Boho Hair is Back: How the Hippie Style Looks This Time Around

Boho Hair is Back: How the Hippie Style Looks This Time Around

Mile Long Hair Has Returned Just In Time for Fall

Call it Murphy's Law-- whenever a fresh bob rules the summer, a super long style comes back around in the fall. A reward for those who dared not to chop and the envy of all who did-- we suspect it's not a bad idea to stock up on extensions because boho hair is back and better than ever.

What is Boho Hair?

Named for their bohemian, 1960s predecessor-- boho hair is free-flowing, seems effortless, and has an earthy appeal. With the natural hair color trend that's been going around, we're not surprised to see this "mother earth" style paired with it. How can we achieve this effortless look for our clients? Here are 3 tips for styling boho hair for fall of 2024...

1. Keep Layers Long

Boho hair can be worn a variety of ways, but a trending favorite for this season is loose braids. Keeping layers long will help avoid the much less chic spikey-braid look of shorter layers. This also provides more length to add playful waves and texture, two additional key factors in a boho style.

2. Think About Tendrils

While stunning, keeping boho hair at full length 24/7 is unlikely for most people and there will be braids, buns, and ponytails for many days. Part of the whimsy of this hairstyle is the way tendrils fall free from the braids to soften the look of an updo. That said, some clients may want the option to slick back their hair into a ponytail as well. Discuss your client's lifestyle and add shape and interest around the face wherever makes the most sense for them.

3. Recommend Anti-Frizz Products

The 2024 iteration of boho chic is much more refined than past versions and while natural texture and waves are embraced, frizz can make the style look sloppy. It's important to find a gloss or serum that works for your hair type-- recommend what you think will work best for keeping your client's hair glossy and effortless in any humidity level.

Don't Be Afraid to Personalize It

While long, sleek, wavy hair is the standard for boho styles-- adding personalizations can make the look even better for your client. If they're growing out a shag, keep that 70s bang in the mix. Obsessed with quiet luxury? Keep front pieces longer for bold slicked back ponytail potential. Customizing the trend makes it more wearable and adaptable for your client.
